I dag, altså fredag den 23 januar fra kl. 9-10 er The Wire-redaktøren Rob Young på Sølvberget og snakker om sin kommende bok, med den fabelaktige tittelen: Electric Eden: Unearthing Britain’s Visionary Music. Tittelforklaringen lyder: “A book which explores the connections between British folk and pagan culture, landscapes, utopian politics and visionary art through the music of the past 100 years. From the folk-inspired compositions of Vaughan Williams and Holst, to the 1950s revival of Ewan MacColl and Shirley Collins, the 1960s folk-rock of Fairport Convention, Nick Drake, John Martyn, the acid folk of Incredible String Band, to more recent organic music by Talk Talk, Kate Bush and Julian Cope, the book is a panorama of the British musical imagination.” I dag vil han ta for seg hovedtemaene og spille seg gjennom noen musikkeksempler. Stavanger er en kulturby altså. For kulturbyer er slike byer som har mange skitgode happenings, hardcore debatter om kultur og politikk samt bevissthetssprengende programoppslag, og, der kulturbyinnbyggeren ikke får med seg alt det som man faktisk vil delta på.
